A Precious Conversation

This is a conversation I really enjoyed with Caleb while driving him to school this morning:

C: "Mommy, it's really hard for you to take care of me, since you're the 'long sick', huh?" (That's what he calls my autoimmune/digestive disorder...as opposed to the "short sick", which would be a cold, etc.)

M: "Yeah..it's a little bit hard, but I think I do pretty good. My sickness is why we only have one child."

C: "But you guys only wanted one kid."

M: "Umm..well actually we wanted more. I think two sounds perfect, but daddy and I are very happy with just you."

C: "When I grow up, I'm going to have two kids. And the older one is going to drive the younger one to school."

M: "Really? Your kids are going to have to be pretty spaced out in ages, aren't they?"

C: "Well, actually they have to walk to school."

M: "Wo, you're a MEAN dad!" (jokingly of course.)

C: "But actally I'm going to walk with them to school, and we're going to live close to the school."

M: "Oh Really! (Amused, because he is so detailed about his future kids)..And what are you're kids names going to be Caleb?"

C: "Doober and Goober!!!"

And then we laughed and laughed.
